🛟 Drowning Prevention Week 🛟

Every year, preventable drowning incidents change lives forever. This week, we’re raising awareness of simple actions that help keep everyone safe around water.

The UofG Sport team are fully trained Royal Life Saving Society UK lifeguards – we’re here to help in an emergency and to keep you safe while you enjoy our pool.

Whether you’re swimming at the Stevenson Building or heading to the beach, here are some key tips to stay safe:

💡 Know the Water Safety Code:

🛑 Stop & Think – Check your surroundings and assess the risks before going near the water.

👫 Stay Together – Never swim alone. Look out for friends and family.

📞 Call for Help – In an emergency, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you’re at the coast.

🛟 Float to Live – If you get into trouble, float on your back, stay calm, and control your breathing.

Water safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Together, we can help prevent drowning and save lives.
