CRACKED TILES
A year ago he inherited his father’s crumbling empire, a run-down chip shop in the east end of Glasgow. The sale of the shop now looms but Riccardo isn’t ready to leave; he has just discovered a compelling oddity in the family business records. Perplexed and burning with curiosity, he now finds himself with no choice but to revisit family history asking questions of his father he never would have dared ask before. Do the shop’s grease-stained walls hold the answers?

Prepare to laugh and cry. Hot off a successful run at EdFringe16, this new theatre piece by Scots-Italian dramatist Lorenzo Novani blends farcical comedy, poetic storytelling and an unfolding mystery into an unforgettable one-man tour de force.

-----

Please spread the word and invite your friends, everyone is welcome!

Please comment to let us know if you're coming to the play!

Websters is a theatre, bar and bistro located at 416 Great Western Road, Glasgow just next to Kelvinbridge Underground. 0141 357 0151

** ATTENTION ALL 1st and 2nd YEAR STRATHCLYDE STUDENTS **

The International and Twinning Office at Glasgow City Council have one fully funded place for a student to attend a summer school in Genoa, Italy from 6-13 September.

The organisers will provide accommodation, meals, activities and local transport, while Glasgow City Council will cover the cost of a return flight to Genoa. All the successful applicant will have to take to Italy is a little extra pocket money.

As the first stage in the process of selecting one of our students to attend, Paul Hare is looking for initial expressions of interest. The deadline for expressions of interest is this coming Friday, 5 June at 5pm. Sending Paul an email ([email protected]) will suffice as an expression of interest. Then, next week (commencing 8 June) those of you who have expressed an interest will receive further information.

I can confirm that anyone aged 18 years or over is eligible to take part – so please ignore any reference to participants having to be aged 20-25.

Lastly, I can confirm that Glasgow City Council will be happy to accept the student we put forward, regardless of home address or nationality.

This opportunity is being offered to students of first and second years only.

E-FRIEND PROGRAMME

Did you know that, since 2003, Glasgow has been twinned with the Italian city of Turin? And that, in Turin, there are many students who study English? Would you like to have an e-penfriend, a student like you, with similar interests, with whom you could exchange information and ideas, both in Italian and in English? Do you think this could be a useful and enjoyable way of improving your Italian? If you are interested in taking part in this new initiative between the University of Strathclyde and l’Università di Torino send us a message and we will send you a short form to fill out with your interests that will allow you to be paired with a student who has similar interests. Forms must be received by Friday so please message us quickly!
