As well as a fresh look and feel, we’ve introduced a number of new features to improve your online learning experience.

These include:

➡️Accessing your grades, checking upcoming deadlines and viewing feedback quickly
➡️Personalising your notification settings to how you wish to receive updates via the Activity Stream, Email, and Push Notifications

🖥️We’re upgrading our multi-factor authentication (MFA) to a new system (Microsoft Entra ID) and we’re encouraging all students to ensure they are set up for the new academic year!

MFA provides an extra layer of security for your GCU account and helps protect you and the wider GCU community from online threats when accessing GCU systems like GCU Learn and your student email📩

Face to Face registration and student ID card collection opened on campus this week 💙

If you're able to we recommend that you beat the queues during Induction Week and come onto campus later this week (Thursday 3 and Friday 4 September) to complete your face-to-face registration and pick up your student ID card. The campus will be a lot quieter and also means if you're a SAAS/SLC funded student, you'll guarantee you have access to your student loan before the end of induction week.

UK Nationals and Irish students

If you are a UK or Irish student, you can collect your student card from the Campus Life Lounge (level 1, George Moore Building. You must ensure that you bring your photographic ID (passport, driving licence/provisional or a Young Scot card) with you when you come to collect. Please also have your Student ID number ready, this will be on your original registration email.

SAAS/SLC funded students
We will confirm your registration to the Student Loans Company when you collect your card. Loans will be paid on the first instalment date, or 3 working days after you collect your card if that is later. Bursaries or grants will be paid automatically on the payment date even if you collect your card later.

Non UK and Non Irish Nationals
If you are an overseas or EU student, you can collect your student card from level 2 of the Sir Alex Ferguson Library. You should attend as soon as possible after your arrival.

You must bring the required ID and documents or we will be unable to issue your card:
▶️Passport with your entry clearance vignette (including entry date stamp)
▶️eVISA UK Immigration ID share code. Please set up your UKVI account now so that you can give us the share code when collecting your card.
▶️Your visa decision notification from the Home Office.
▶️Proof of term-time address (tenancy agreement or contract).

Face-to-Face registration opening hours:
📅 Monday - Friday
⏰ 10:00 am - 4:30pm (10am - 1pm on Friday 11 September)

Face-to-Face registration will move to the Campus Life Desk (level 1, George Moore Building) from Monday 14 September.

📅 Induction week starts on Monday 7 September and we recommend that new students check their induction timetable and attend their induction classes and any other induction activity on their timetable.

🤝It's the perfect chance to meet your new classmates and programme team as well as find out about life at GCU and the year ahead!

You may notice 3 or 4 timetables attributed to your course. You should select the timetable related to your year of study.

📲Remember, you can even access the induction timetable through the GCU Welcome App! (Make sure to select the 'PDF version').
