The University of Strathclyde has provided postgraduate education in forensic science for over 45 years, longer than any other university in the United Kingdom, and is internationally recognised as a centre of excellence in forensic science education, research and practice. Originating from over 60 countries, we believe there are more forensic science alumni from the University of Strathclyde employed in practice around the world, than from any other UK institution.

Registration is now open for the 2026-27 Forensic Medical Sciences Evening Seminar Series!

Running for 30 weeks from September 2026-May 2027, the course covers topics in forensic medicine, forensic science, and the law.

Attendance also allows participants to apply to do the Diploma in Forensic Medical Sciences, administered by The Society of Apothecaries Society of Apothecaries.

Centre for Forensic Science staff were thrilled to take part in Strathclyde’s Accelerate Chemistry Challenge, a one-week widening access programme for pupils who have just gone into S5 or S6 and are thinking about going to university.

Pupils spent a week in Strathclyde chemistry laboratories, synthesising and analysing paracetamol, in the same way our undergraduates do – hands-on with fume hoods, reflux apparatus, and infrared spectroscopy amongst many other advanced chemical techniques.

Accelerate is a great opportunity to experience life as a chemistry student!

In May, the Centre for Forensic Science had the pleasure of hosting 30 fantastic students visiting from the University of Waterloo Science at UWaterloo for a forensic science summer school - two full weeks of hands-on laboratory activities and introduction to all things !
