What a great few days we've had doing ! Thank you so much to all of the enthusiastic staff and students who took part! We covered bird surveys, terrestrial invertebrate identification, and pond dipping with aquatic invertebrate identification.

This is part of a national incentive to survey Britain's wildlife, and we are very grateful to be a part of it. We have not only been able to connect with nature but also provide valuable data for conservation.

🦐 Good: Our Bamboo Shrimp Malay! Fun fact: Female Bamboo Shrimps fans her eggs by using her rear legs to aerate up to 2000 tiny eggs held under her abdomen. Doing this provides oxygen to her young and prevents any fungus build-up

Today is World Endangered Species Day!

This day is to bring awareness to at risk wildlife, as well as ongoing conservation successes. Being part of the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) and having some endangered species as part of our collection, we are very passionate about this cause.

We have also previously partnered with , where our animal studies students have visited to learn about their endangered rhinos and their tireless efforts to preserve this amazing species
