As part of National Volunteer Week, today we’re sharing Gemma’s volunteering story 💙

Alongside her role as a Client Advisor, Gemma volunteers with the Blue Cross Pet Loss Support service, offering emotional support and a listening ear to people going through the loss of a beloved pet. Losing a pet can be incredibly difficult, and the compassion shown by volunteers like Gemma makes a real difference to those navigating grief and loss.

💙 It’s National Volunteer Week! 💙

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible impact volunteers make in our communities every single day. From supporting local charities to helping animals, young people, and community groups, volunteering makes a real difference.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing stories from members of our staff team who generously give their time to volunteer alongside their roles at CAW. We’re proud to highlight the inspiring work they do and the positive impact.

Volunteering is a great way to support others, learn new skills, build confidence, and connect with your community. Whether you can give an hour a week or more, every contribution matters.
Stay tuned for our staff stories this week and perhaps they’ll inspire you to get involved too! 🙌

🌈 June is Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
This Pride Month, we’re celebrating inclusion, individuality, and the importance of creating a safe and supportive community for everyone.
Our infamous Pride Guide has been put together to help students and staff learn more about Pride and LGBTQ+ inclusion. Inside, you’ll find information on Pride flags, key LGBTQ+ terms, a guide to pronouns, allyship, and a range of support and resources available both within CAW and beyond.
Download the Pride Guide using the link below and explore the resources available to support and celebrate our LGBTQ+ community this month and beyond.

Veterinary nursing is a career full of opportunity. 👩‍⚕️

After qualifying, veterinary nurses can explore a wide range of career paths. Some nurses decide to specialise clinically, becoming experts in areas like anaesthesia, emergency care, or feline medicine. Others move into education, supporting and mentoring the next generation of nurses. For those with leadership ambitions, roles like Head Nurse or Practice Manager offer the chance to shape teams and drive practice success. 🚀

There are also exciting opportunities beyond clinical practice, including research, charity work, pharmaceuticals, and global animal health initiatives. Whatever direction you choose, veterinary nursing offers the chance to grow, lead, and make a lasting difference. 💚
