We are incredibly proud to share that Belinda Laybourne, one of our brilliant teachers at East Norfolk Sixth Form College, has been named a Silver Award winner of the FE Lecturer of the Year category in the prestigious Pearson National Teaching Awards for their incredible impact on their students.

Belinda joined EN in 2021 and has become an exceptional teacher, mentor and role model, known for her positivity and the huge impact she has on students and colleagues. Her work across both T Level Health and BTEC Animal Management continues to inspire learners to aim higher and believe in what’s possible.

This national recognition places Belinda among a select group of outstanding educators celebrated on National Thank a Teacher Day. Belinda is now in the running for the Gold Award, to be announced later this year on The One Show.

Congratulations Belinda, this is so well deserved.👏

Engineering students have been working on developing, building and designing a kit car to race as part of the GreenPower event, a project that requires teamwork and collaboration.👏

The kit car is made to be used over and over again. Once designed, built and raced, the team break the car down back to its components ready for a new group to take the challenge on the following year.

This gives our students the chance to learn about sustainable engineering, develop skills in design, explore practical engineering and build skills through the production of the electric racing car.

Our Computer Science students took a key step in the “Can we detect danger beneath without digging?” project this week with a hands‑on GIS workshop from VanguardGeo.

They built real QGIS skills, creating geological and hazard maps that will support upcoming fieldwork into potential sinkhole risks across Great Yarmouth.

It was great to see them working with authentic data and producing professional‑level maps that will guide our Geology and Environmental Science teams.👏

Huge congratulations to our East Norfolk students who have won 1st place in EEEGR’s SNS competition for the second year running, securing a £2,500 prize! 👏

After three months of independent research and project development, they impressed industry judges with their green hydrogen solution powered by curtailed wind energy. Their work included costings, permit reviews and even a full project website.
