Looking back at another incredible Docks Takeover at Docks Academy 🎶

Each year, our Music students take over the venue for a live showcase event, gaining valuable experience performing in a professional environment alongside industry technicians and staff.

This video, filmed and edited by Media student Melissa Plater, captures performances from our Music students, as well as the collaboration between our Music and Media departments throughout the event.

With decades of experience teaching and mentoring the next generation of hospitality professionals, Michael Kirkham-Evans' passion for developing young chefs has had an incredible impact both in Wales and beyond. From training competitors for prestigious culinary competitions to leading the Welsh Junior Culinary Team on the international stage, his dedication to nurturing talent perfectly reflects what this competition is all about.

It was fantastic to have someone with such a wealth of knowledge and experience judging the competition and encouraging our competitors throughout the day. Thank you for your continued support of young chefs and the future of our industry.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate Sophie Smith, our Early Years Educator apprentice, who has been named a finalist for Apprentice of the Year in the NCFE Aspiration Awards! 🎉

Sophie’s passion for early years education, commitment to supporting children’s development, and dedication to making a difference have earned national recognition - a fantastic achievement for both Sophie and the wider apprenticeship community.

Working alongside Sarah's Childminding Grimsby, Sophie has already made a lasting impact through her creativity, professionalism, and caring approach, helping to create an inspiring environment where children can learn and thrive.

This recognition also highlights the power of strong partnerships between employers and training providers, and the important role apprenticeships play in developing talent across Greater Lincolnshire and the Humber.
