Our Level 2 health and social care students recently welcomed Michelle Jackson and Gaynor Spence from Caremark. They talked about their service, what it is like to work in adult social care, and the difference it makes to the vulnerable adults they support. Caremark has also offered all of our Level 2 students voluntary and paid work experience alongside their course. The students met Wilma and Star, Caremark's therapy dogs, with their handler, Michelle. Thank you to everyone at Caremark. We look forward to hosting Caremark's Safe Space soon.

Angela Stevenson, our head of centre, had never played Uno until our students taught her in the atrium.

Then she asked them what they like about Prior. The high street on the doorstep and their friends topped the list.

And how many days until open evening? They had the card for that.

Join us on Wednesday 14 October, 5pm to 8pm. Drop in any time to meet our teachers and students and find the courses that fit you.

Congratulations to the veterans at Castle Court, Morgan House in Boosbeck, who have collected their level 2 certificates.

It started with a phone call in January from Michelle Kelso, our Adult Education Manager, to Healthier Heroes, who run the centre. Around eight residents signed up, choosing from courses in understanding autism, understanding behaviour that challenges and the safe handling of medication. Michelle was there every Wednesday morning to support them.

Now the group has started essential digital skills with our tutor Ian Cook. Support funding from Tees Valley Combined Authority bought a laptop for every learner. The laptops stay at the centre for the residents who come after them.

Thank you to the team at Castle Court for welcoming us every week.

74 positive postcards in one week. Last week our deputy head of department, Ryan Matthewman, awarded postcards to learners in maths, further maths, core maths, physics and geology.

Staff praised learners for their initial assessment results, their positive attitude to learning and for being role models to others. A great start to the year.
