Coronation Street star Sydney Martin came to visit us! 😁

Sydney, who is currently playing Betsy Swain on the cobbles, took a break from her very busy schedule to speak to current A Level Drama students at Haslingden Sixth Form.

Having been in the students’ position just a few years ago, she was asked about the process from A Levels to national TV and how to know whether it’s the right path to choose.

We're in week two of our Sports Challenge, here's what else has been happening...

🍬 Students ran a tuck shop every break time this week to raise funds for our Sports Challenge.

🚗 Science Club tested how far they could get a car to drive using a balloon.

ℹ️ We welcomed Y11 parent/carers for our Information Evening in preparation for GCSEs.

🗓️ The Sixth Form Leadership Team launched their October events calendar.

⚽️ The U16 girls football team won 1-0 in a hard-fought Lancashire cup match.

⚽️ The Y7 Football Transition group practised their dribbling, passing, and shooting skills in competitive games against local schools.

Staff vs Students Football Match...?! ⚽️

As we continue to fundraise for our Cash for Kids Sports Challenge campaign, the Haslingden Sixth Form football team has challenged the staff to a match to raise money for the cause!

Next week, students and staff can come watch the game in exchange for a small donation.

Exciting news from Preston North End Football Club! ⚽️

Mason, Year 9, was selected for the U16s (young pros and scholars) at the eleventh hour due to an injury to a first-team keeper.

Mason originally went as the second keeper, but was selected to play two full group games! 🥅

He received 'Man of the Match' for his performance against eventual winners, Manchester United.

His dad said: "Preston North End defied the odds and made it all the way to the final, coming runners-up, which is an amazing achievement considering the line-up had 10 teams from around the world, including champions of Norway, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, the hosts Aberdeen, Manchester United, Glasgow Rangers and Celtic, too".

Well done, Mason!

Well done to our U16’s side who finished runners up in this weekend’s prestigious Craig Brown Memorial Trophy in Aberdeen. 🏆

The young North end side beat the likes of Celtic and Rangers before only being stopped by Manchester United in the final.

Safe journey home, lads! 👊

Reminder for students...

Every break time this week and next week, we will be holding a tuck shop in aid of our Cash for Kids campaign! 🍭🍿

Next week (w/c 12th), you can wear non-uniform in PE lessons (team kits, football shirts, favourite colour, etc.) 🎽

We would like to encourage cash donations to participate in the above activities; all funds will go towards our campaign. 🙌
