📚 From Henley College History student to university academic!

We were delighted to welcome former Henley College student Dr Inge Dornan, now Deputy Dean for the Faculty of Humanities at Brunel University, back to college to speak with our History students.

Inge shared her journey after Henley, gave students an insight into her university experience at Warwick and Cambridge, and explored the skills studying History can develop for university, careers and beyond.

“I’ve come back to speak to Year 12 and Year 13 about studying History at university, thinking about career paths and the skills that studying History can give you. I’ve had a really lovely day and have loved meeting the students and teachers. I really enjoyed my time at Henley, and I’ve really enjoyed coming back today as well.”

Applications for The Henley College’s Turing Scheme close tomorrow, Friday 16 October!

We were delighted to welcome AWE to The Henley College yesterday to share insights into their apprenticeship opportunities and lead engaging workshops for students exploring engineering career pathways. 🔧⚙️

Emily Carey, who ran the session said: "Meeting students who had already shown interest in AWE was fantastic, and the timing was perfect as applications had just opened, allowing them to put advice straight into action."

Events like this give students a clearer picture of alternative routes into engineering and strengthen links between learners and industry partners. One of our students, Joe, said: "I learned that taking on leadership opportunities and building industry connections can make a real difference when applying for apprenticeships." A huge thank you goes out to our Careers Lead, Catherine Mattingly, for organising another successful event.

🎓 What's next after college? The possibilities are endless!

On Monday, our students recently welcomed Alison Osborn from Oxford Brookes University, for an exciting session exploring the many opportunities available after The Henley College.

Students discovered more about university degrees, foundation years, apprenticeships, employment, gap years and even starting their own business!

In Alison's words: "I hope students came away with a greater understanding of just how broad their horizons are, the many options available to them for their next steps, and the key factors they should consider when making those decisions."

The event was organised by Catherine Mattingly, Careers Lead at The Henley College, who works closely with universities, employers and industry partners to ensure students benefit from expert guidance and inspiring progression opportunities. A huge thank you to Catherine and Alison for taking the time to inspire our students and help them plan their next steps. 👏
