SPOTLIGHT ON: The Presents Card

It’s not all about presents at Christmas - far from it, in fact - but I absolutely love giving people presents and also, wrapping them!

The creativity in everyone comes out at Christmas, whether that means making your own wreath or table centrepiece, or getting creative in the kitchen and experimenting with new festive recipes. Wrapping presents is part of festive creativity for me and I love the satisfying feeling of seeing a pile of coordinating presents under a decorated Christmas Tree.

SPOTLIGHT ON: The Christmas Tree Card

Christmas tree decorating marks the start of the Christmas countdown in my eyes. We get our tree early and enjoy it for pretty much the whole of December.

Growing up, decorating the tree would be a family affair - even the cat got involved! Even when I went away to university I’d try and make sure I could be back the weekend the tree would go up so I wouldn’t miss out! We’d play Christmas music while we unpacked the boxes of decorations, and even though they’d be the same every year (with a couple of new additions every now and then) it would still feel like opening surprise presents, never knowing what you’d discover in each box.

The Christmas Tree Card is, for me, the perfect reminder that the festive period is so family-oriented. Whether that’s a biological family or friends that have become family, we all enjoy surrounding ourselves with the people we love at Christmas - and perhaps decorating a tree together. SPOTLIGHT ON: Bauble Christmas Card

For me, baubles are the perfect Christmas tree accessory. I always use just baubles and lights on mine to keep it simple, but the baubles allow for personality to be injected into Christmas tree decorating.

Growing up, we had an array of decorations that had either been given as gifts or were passed down through the family or held some kind of special memory - and there’d always be one bauble you’d be most excited about hanging on the tree! My sisters and I have since added to our parents collection by purchasing tree decorations from different countries during our individual travels. The decorations on my parents Christmas tree tell many stories, and I love getting caught up in the nostalgia of it all.

SPOTLIGHT ON: The Nutcracker Christmas Card.

I absolutely LOVE this ballet at this time of year. There’s something so magical about seeing these characters come to life through dance and seeing a stage full of Christmas references. My Grandma used to take me to see the ballet - something we’d do just the two of us - and while I don’t think I ever actually saw The Nutcracker with her, it’s a very real reminder of those special times spent together.
