Happy International Women’s Day!

This photo contains the only women that have ever been the Activities Officer at Huddersfield Students’ Union. Lucy won the seat in 2019 and was re-elected in 2020. Meg won in 2021 and was prt of the first all female officer team. Elze won in 2022 keeping the seat female for the fourth year in a row!

It’s so important that us girls see women in leadership! I completed the Women in Leadership programme last year and it was an incredible learning experience!

A year ago today, I had covid and couldn’t come onto campus. It honestly feels so surreal that I’m here again, happy and healthy!

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me already. From my campaign team, to the societies endorsing me, even the people that have just said hello to me when I’ve been walking around! It’s made the build up so exciting!

In these photos, I have four different jumpers on. They say “I’m part of an Academic Society”, “I’m part of a Society”, “I’m an Academic Rep”, and “I’m part of a Sports Club”.

Last year I was on the president of the Disney society, vice-president of the Creative Writing Society and secretary of Cheerleading. Each of these clubs won ACE Gold. ACE (Achieving Committee Excellence) is a series of tasks that committee members complete to better improve their societies. Once you’ve completed ACE Gold, you receive a hoodie! As you can see, I’ve achieved ACE in every committee I was part of last year and it’s something I’m very proud of! This year I’m continuing to help my committees achieve the new version of ACE! Both Creative Writing and Arts & Humanities PGR Society have completed ACE Go!

The fourth hoodie is for academic reps. You receive your hoodie when you achieve 10 steps on your rep bingo card. I completed mine in October! I became an academic rep this year because I wanted to support the postgraduate community and today I got to represent my whole school at Graduate Council.

I’m extremely passionate about achieving my targets. That’s why you can count on me as your next Activities Officer! 💜
