Wrangling a young person through their exams is an experience and a half. Well done if that’s been you over the last few months!

But you might be asking ‘what next?’

Some people know exactly what they’re going to do after Results Day, but others might still be working it out - and that’s okay. If going to university is something you’ve talked about with them, but you’ve still not landed on a definitive answer, you might want to look into Clearing.

☀️🪿🐥 Happy Spring Bank Holiday! We hope you've all been enjoying the sunnier and warmer weather we've had on this long weekend?

In the theme of Spring Bank it only felt right to share some spring-themed campus updates with you - we have some super cute fuzzy new additions to campus!

The University of Huddersfield is set to become the first UK university to help train student paramedics for mass casualty incidents using groundbreaking Virtual Reality (VR) technology.

Student paramedics will use VR headsets and software thanks to a partnership with Manchester-based emergency response training experts REACT-XR.

A combination of the facilities in our Daphne Steele Building's innovative immersive suite and REACT-XR's headsets and software will be used by up to six students at a time to accurately recreate mass casualty incidents such as accidents or terrorist attacks in real time. These simulations will allow more student paramedics to perform triage than if recreating an incident with actors or mannequins.

🚂📰 NEWS: Huddersfield Institute of Railway Research (IRR) secures £2 million in funding as part of a €30 million project to create a Centre of Excellence in Railway Engineering in Poland.

The new Centre will be hosted by Politechnika Poznańska in Poland and developed with the help of three leading European partners: The University of Huddersfield, Technische Universität Berlin in Germany, and Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France in France.

"What made Huddersfield different compared to many other universities was that there was more focus on a ‘learn by doing’ approach through practical sessions."

"I made Huddersfield my firm choice since it was one of the universities which offers a broad range of specialisms within Computer Science, compared to many other universities that are more restrictive and focused on studying Computer Science at its core."

Edwin enjoys the fact his degree has a greater focus on coursework than exams, and that he can add modules of Games Programming into his Computer Science curriculum.

Wondering how your teenager will manage everything at university?

International student Amnah shares what a typical week looks like for her - balancing lectures and coursework with sports clubs, walks with friends, and exploring the town centre.

From training for the University Women's Basketball team to working on engineering projects, Amnah has found her rhythm.

"While every individual is different, my week is generally full of fitness-related activities, food, hanging out with friends, and obviously, also university work," she says.
