Welcome to the FB site of what was once a thriving, innovative and exciting Linguistics department. In June 2022, with no warning, the university decided to close us down and make most remaining staff redundant. We are sorry that they treated us and our students so badly and sorry that we cannot welcome more students from the UK and from across the globe to study with us. This site will close soon but since there have been a number of new followers it seemed important to explain. Luckily there remain a number of great places to study linguistics in the UK.

On Monday 13th June, The University of Huddersfield announced 37 redundancies in the School of Arts and Humanities. In Linguistics, 2 permanent colleagues are personally targeted for redundancy and all others are at risk.
