Participate in an art competition to create a piece of art that represents the island of St. Kilda. The winning design will be featured in a new poetry book by author and poet Rody Gorman, due for release in 2027. You’ll receive named accreditation in the publication and a copy of the book!

Explore Trapped, an art exhibition by SAMS student Chris Albers at the Ocean Explorer Centre, exploring ongoing noise pollution in Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and challenging us to think differently about how we protect our oceans.

If your bookshelf could talk, whose stories would it tell? And, perhaps more importantly, whose voices would be missing? Black History Month is an invitation for all of us to look beyond the stories we already know, to discover new voices, challenge our perspectives, and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of Black writers to literature. Deborah de Oliveira, from our UHI Scribblers club, has compiled a list of Black literature book recommendations for anyone who is hoping to see more of themselves in the books you read or to experience the world through someone else's eyes, this month and beyond. Our NWH team secures funding for free breakfasts for students across UHI North, West & Hebrides!

Helping our students start the day right! ☕️🥣

Students across UHI North, West and Hebrides will benefit from £6,300 in funding to support free Student Breakfast Clubs during the 2026-27 academic year.

Secured by Highlands and Islands Students' Association and UHI North, West and Hebrides, the funding will help students access breakfast, save money and start their college day feeling supported.

Students have chosen the priorities for UHI and Highlands and Islands Students' Association (HISA) new Student Partnership Agreement: action on the cost of living and a stronger student community.

From 2026 to 2029, we’ll work together on financial and basic needs support, rented accommodation, hidden course costs, safety and respect, and tackling isolation.

These priorities came from student feedback and a student vote, and they will continue to help shape the work.
