Hello Everyone,

The Social Work Society have the incredible opportunity to have Phil Frampton guest speak for us on Tuesday 5th April 6:00pm - 7.30pm.

Phil was not only a founder of the Care Leavers Association, but also an incredible author. He is joining us for a limited time to talk about his lived experiences and his new book 'Youth and the Mystery Wall' which you can access as a free download from HERE: https://www.ifsw.org/product/books/youth-and-the-mystery-wall/

Here is a short video for you to watch, should you want to know more, and I have attached a review that Phil provided us with for you too: https://youtu.be/LApgLiUwP1A

This was a very sudden event plan, and we appreciate that so many of you may be busy or unable to attend, so this event will be a hybrid event - both face-to-face and online via Zoom. You can register for the zoom access HERE: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwufuCgrD8uHNfV5x8kG6gQuvNXG021koP6

Additionally, we will be providing refreshments for those who attend face to face! 🙂

Please feel free to contact myself if you have any questions or concerns, and share this around to those you feel may be interested in attending. We hope to see you there!! 🙂

Hi everyone🤩

The UoS Social Work Society have some exciting news... we are announcing our first big event of the year!

County Lines is an ever-growing concern, and it is vital that we understand the warning signs and learn what we can do to support the victims.

Below are the details for our event and please see the attached poster for more information.

Event: The Story of County Lines.
Date: 17th November 2021
Time: 6pm - 8pm
Location: In person (Waterfront Building, W126) and Virtual (Virtual Classroom)

We cannot wait to see you there! 🤓

We want to know what events would you like to see from us in the future? All suggestions, big and small, are welcome! 😁

27/05/2021

we are absolutely blown away with not only being nominated, but also winning the award for "Most Improved Student Group"🎉

"I am so so proud of our society, and the committee team I get to work within, plus all of the support we have had from staff at the uni and SU. 2019/2020, was smy first year of uni and I had the real burning idea to start a society for social work, something that could carry on long after I graduate to bridge the gap between uni, students and the wider community within a social work and social justice context... I had the full support of our wonderful course lead, and the SU, and my now committee team, but I never ever thought it would have made this far in such a short space of time. I'm just blown away. thank you to all who nominated us and voted for us!" -- Beth, President. .x

"Chuffed to bits with the award. To have our hard work recognised and acknowledged is a real achievement 😊" -- Sam, Treasurer.

"I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has attended and supported our events so far please and that we look forward to having even more in the future." -- Jade, Secretary.
