1. Sirimavo Bandaranaike - the first female prime minister in the WORLD.
2. Susanthika Jayasinghe - Sri Lankan Olympic medal holder for the 200m track event at the summer Olympics in Sydney.
3. Anusha Koddithuwakku - the first Sri Lankan female boxer to win at the commonwealth games
4. Sunila Abeysekera - Sri Lankan human rights campaigner. Received the United Nations human right award in 1999.
5. Captain Anusha Sriratne - the first female caption at Sri Lankan airlines and led the fist all female airline crew.
6. Dr Hasini Jayatilaka - A Sri Lankan cancer cell biologist. Acclaimed for her extraordinary research work in cancer biology.
7. Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala - the first Sri Lankan woman to summit Mount Everest.
8. Jezima Ismail - a Sri Lankan educator, broadcaster and social activist who has advocated for human rights.
9. Hiranya Peiris - An award winning astrophysicist. She’s is best known for her work on the cosmic microwave background radiation and received a breakthrough prize in fundamental physics in 2018.
