Join us and help to pack HOPE boxes for mothers and babies across the country! 👶

The Giving HOPE (Hold On, Pain Eases) project aims to minimise the trauma experienced by mothers and their babies separated close to birth due to safeguarding concerns.

The HOPE boxes come as a pair, one for the mother and one for the baby, preserving key memories and helping support further life-story work.

Join us and help to pack HOPE Boxes on the 23th of October, from 11am-5pm, to help support mothers and babies facing potential separation close to birth due to safeguarding concerns. The packing event will be held in the Lancaster Conference Centre, in A27 (Training Room 2)!

Our own Prof Karen Broadhurst OBE has been featured on BBC News, BBC Radio 4's File on Four Investigates and Women's Hour discussing the rise in babies in care proceedings 📈

Data from Lancaster, Oxford, Swansea and Lancashire researchers indicates care proceedings for babies have risen by 64% over the past two decades. According to Prof Broadhurst, the majority of occurrences were 'grey area' cases of neglect by families with complex needs, which might have improved with support.

As only around 10% of adoptions in England occur with the birth parents' written consent, campaigners describe the situation as modern-day 'forced adoption'.
