With over 50 years of excellence in engineering education and research, the School of Engineering at Lancaster University is a vibrant and growing community of innovators, creators, and problem-solvers. Founded in 1969, our School has a proud heritage in general engineering โ and that interdisciplinary spirit still drives everything we do. Our staff and students come from a wide range of backgrounds, bringing together expertise from engineering, science, and technology. From structural engineers to bioengineers, materials scientists to aerodynamicists, weโre united by a shared passion for tackling real-world challenges. Weโre proud to be one of the broadest, most diverse, and friendliest engineering communities in the UK. Our research and teaching span areas like communications, energy, manufacturing, bioengineering, sustainable materials, healthcare technologies, and more. We believe that our strength lies in our diversity, and we actively support and celebrate individuality within our community. In recent years, weโve embarked on an exciting journey of growth and transformation โ aiming to become world-leading in research excellence, inclusivity, and teaching innovation. Over 90% of our research outputs were recognised as interdisciplinary in the latest REF2021 research assessment, reflecting the collaborative and boundary-crossing nature of our work. We collaborate closely with local and international partners, working together to shape the future of engineering and make a positive impact on society.
