On Thursday, the Year 9 and 10 rounders teams travelled to Tavistock for an exciting fixture, with the sunshine making a welcome appearance and energy levels high throughout the afternoon.
The Year 9 team delivered an excellent performance from the very start. After the first innings, they held a strong lead of 4 rounders to 2.5. The team continued into the second innings full of confidence, implementing effective fielding tactics and producing some fantastic batting displays. Their teamwork and determination secured a convincing victory, finishing 8.5 to 5 rounders. Mya led the side superbly as captain, while Evie was deservedly awarded the opposition’s Player of the Match.
The Year 10s also started strongly against a tough Tavistock side. A standout feature of the first innings was Ellie’s excellent spin bowling, which caught the opposition off guard and made scoring difficult. This helped the team establish an 8.5 to 5.5 rounder lead after the first innings. Tavistock fought back well in the second half and narrowly edged the game by just one rounder, winning 16 to 15. Despite the close result, the team showed great resilience and teamwork throughout. Merryn captained brilliantly, and Mary was awarded the opposition’s Player of the Match.
Both teams represented the College with great pride, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship, determination, and teamwork throughout the fixture.
