🏳️‍🌈💖 Pride Month | June 2026 🌈

This June, WCG proudly celebrates Pride Month - a time to honour the history, achievements and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community, and to reaffirm our ongoing commitment to equality, inclusion and respect for all.

Pride is more than a celebration - it’s a reminder that everyone deserves to feel safe, seen and supported in being their authentic self. At WCG, we’re proud to create an environment where students and staff can learn, work and thrive without fear or prejudice.

To all our LGBTQ+ students, staff and allies - thank you for your courage, your visibility and your voice. You inspire us to stand together for equality, every day of the year.

👂💙 Deaf Awareness Week | 4–10 May 🤟

This week we’re proud to support Deaf Awareness Week - a time to celebrate the hearing impaired community, raise awareness, and promote understanding of hearing loss and communication access.

At WCG, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to making learning accessible for all - through British Sign Language (BSL) support, captioning, clear communication, and understanding the diverse experiences of our hearing impaired students and staff.

Deaf Awareness Week reminds us that communication is more than just words - it’s connection, patience, and respect. Small changes, like facing someone when speaking or learning a few BSL signs, can make a big difference.

To our hearing impaired students, staff, and interpreters - thank you for enriching our college community with your resilience, insight, and advocacy. You inspire us to listen more deeply and include more fully every day.

Let’s continue to build a world where everyone is heard, understood, and included.

🌍💚 Earth Day | 22 April 🌱

Today we celebrate Earth Day - a global reminder that caring for our planet begins with the actions we take each day.

At WCG, we’re passionate about sustainability and protecting the environment for future generations. From our agriculture and horticulture courses to engineering, construction, and animal welfare, sustainability runs through everything we teach and do.

Our students and staff are making a real difference - planting trees, reducing waste, supporting biodiversity, developing green technologies, and finding new ways to live and work more sustainably.

Education plays a vital role in tackling climate change - by equipping learners with the knowledge and skills to create innovative, environmentally conscious solutions across every sector.

Let’s continue to protect, restore, and cherish the planet we call home - together.

💙 World Autism Awareness Day | 2 April 🌍

Today we join people across the world in recognising World Autism Awareness Day - a time to celebrate neurodiversity, promote understanding, and champion inclusion for autistic people everywhere.

At WCG, we’re proud to support our autistic students, staff, and community members. Every learner brings their own strengths, perspectives and creativity - and that diversity is what makes our college group so vibrant.

Our dedicated staff work to ensure that every learner feels supported, valued and understood - through inclusive teaching, specialist support, and by fostering environments where everyone can thrive as their authentic self.

Awareness is just the beginning - understanding leads to acceptance, and acceptance leads to belonging.

💬 “Autism is not a disorder to be cured, but a different way of being human to be understood.”

Let’s continue to build a community where neurodiversity is recognised, respected, and celebrated - today and every day. 💙

📖✨ World Poetry Day | 21 March 🌍

At WCG, the words take flight,
In classrooms glowing, soft with light.
Our tutors guide with heart and art,
Where language stirs the learner’s heart.

From classic verse to modern song,
They show us where our voices belong.
College minds and adults too,
Find meaning old, discover new.

Each poem a bridge, each line a spark,
A lamp that glows within the dark.
Through rhythm, rhyme, and gentle grace,
We see the world - a brighter place.

And to the teachers, steadfast, true,
Who breathe in words and share what’s new -
You give us courage, voice, and choice,
To write, to feel, to find our voice.

🏳️‍🌈 LGBT+ History Month | February 2026 🌈

This February, WCG proudly celebrates LGBT+ History Month - a time to recognise and honour the achievements, struggles and contributions of le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender and q***r people throughout history.

LGBT+ History Month reminds us that inclusion and equality are not just ideals - they are ongoing commitments. It’s about creating a community where everyone feels safe to be their authentic self, both in and out of the classroom.

At WCG, we celebrate diversity across all areas of study - from the arts to engineering, from sport to animal care - and we continue to work towards a culture of belonging, respect and representation for all our learners and staff.

We also recognise and thank our LGBT+ students, staff and allies for helping to make our college group a place of acceptance, courage and pride. Your voices, stories and leadership make WCG stronger every day.

Together, we can learn from the past, celebrate the present and shape a future where everyone can thrive - no matter who they are or who they love.

Remember: the work doesn’t stop at the end of February - inclusion, equity and representation are long-term commitments.

🌎 World Religion Day | 15 January 🙏

Today we celebrate World Religion Day, a time to recognise the beauty of our diverse beliefs and to promote understanding, respect and unity among people of all faiths - and none.

At WCG, we’re proud to be a community made up of many cultures, religions and worldviews. From Christianity to Islam, Hinduism to Buddhism, Sikhism to Judaism, and every belief and philosophy in between - we value the knowledge, traditions and compassion that each person brings to our college family. 💙

World Religion Day reminds us that education is not only about learning skills - it’s about learning from each other. By embracing open conversations, curiosity and mutual respect, we strengthen the foundations of peace, empathy and community.

Let’s continue to create a college where everyone feels seen, heard and respected for who they are and what they believe.

Remember: the work doesn’t stop on 15 January - inclusion, equity and representation are long-term commitments.

🌟 International Day of Persons with Disabilities | 3 December
At WCG we stand together to celebrate and support our diverse community - including students and staff with disabilities or additional access needs. This day reminds us that inclusion isn’t optional: everyone deserves equal opportunity, dignity and a place to thrive.

We believe that:
--> Accessibility is a foundation: in our classrooms, workshops, campus buildings and digital spaces.
--> Representation matters: when learners see staff and peers with disabilities succeeding, it changes perceptions and broadens what’s possible.
--> Support is collective: from teaching practice and reasonable adjustments to peer-networks, we’re committed to removing barriers.

To our WCG community members with disabilities: thank you for your strength, your insight and for enriching our college environment. We’re proud of you - and we’re committed to ensuring WCG remains a place where you can fully participate and excel.

Remember: the work doesn’t stop on 3 December - inclusion, equity and representation are long-term commitments.
