📢Awareness Events: Dysphagia Information Stall📢

Celebrate and learn about dysphagia in celebration of Nutrition and Hydration week!

📅 Date: Wednesday 24th March
🕧 Time: Drop by between 10:00am-2:30pm
📍 Location: Outside the Leslie Silver Library

This stall is a great chance to learn more about eating, drinking and swallowing through activities and information posters.

📣We are so excited to announce we are running a Makaton course (Level 1) hosted by Heather - a registered Makaton instructor!📣

Level 1 training provides a practical introduction to the Makaton Language Programme. The training is made up of two modules and is 6 hours long, split over two weeks, each with a 3 hour workshop taught face-to-face at city campus.

Sessions include discussing commonly asked questions, hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use and how to start using Makaton in everyday situations at home or work. You will also learn the signs and symbols from Stages 1 and 2, and some of the Additional stage, of the Core Vocabulary.

You will receive a digital Participant’s Manual which includes the Makaton symbols and pictures/videos of the signs that you learn in the workshop.

You will also be given a certificate of attendance.

Everyone is welcome whether this is your first year at Leeds Beckett or your last. You can also bring a Plus One, so bring along your partner or bestie (but make sure you get them a ticket too!).

We will be meeting at Cafe 21 Co., a fantastic cafe ran by people with Down Syndrome, offering training and work experience. So while we swap placement stories, we will also be supporting an amazing cause! 🫶
