British mathematician, Ada Lovelace, regarded as the world's first computer programmer, was born in 1815.
The wonderful mathematical mind of Lovelace was behind the first machine algorithm for an early computing machine, that existed only on paper. As a teenager, she met Charles Babbage, and became known for her notes on his analytical engine, which are hugely important in the early history of computers.
Lovelace described her approach as "poetical science" and herself as an analyst. Her research posed questions examining how individuals and society relate to technology as a collaborative tool. She sadly died of cancer in 1852, when she was only 36 http://ow.ly/4e303051J4b
