It's July 19th - the day a lot of restrictions have lifted. Whether your ‘pro mask’ or ‘anti mask’, respect the decisions of those around you, be kind & stay safe.

There is no right and wrong when it comes to people’s beliefs and opinions with facemasks, so do what’s best for you and spread good vibes only 💚

So it's day 6 of and here's what Bex has learnt so far:

💚 It's not entirely possible to do your full week shop at the supermarket if you want to be plastic free (and don't want to just eat vegetables and fruit everyday)

💚 Going to the local bakery and butchers, although slightly more time consuming, feels good when supporting a smaller business

💚 There are so many wonderful and sustainable companies out there to help with going plastic free. Although we don't recommend ditching what you have to 'upgrade' and first encourage re-purposing what you have, there are great subscription services online. Like adios plasticfor compostable dog p**p bags and deodorant from Wild which Bex is going to try!

Happy 1st of July!….where is this year going?! 🤯

Anyway! This July, our Marketing Director, Bex, is joining in the global movement PlasticFree July. Created to help millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution, follow us along Bex’s journey to try to live plastic free for the entirety of next month.

“Although I’ve always tried to make sustainable choices when shopping, it isn’t always easy to be successful in limiting plastic use. I think this month will be difficult in some unexpected areas but I am looking forward to the challenge and to learn ways to make more environmentally sustainable choices.”

Have you walked the Climate Change Trail at Cambridge University Botanic Garden?

There are so many wonderful sights and smells to take in at the Gardens as well as so much to learn!

Their Giant Redwood is their largest tree on site and stores 13.6 tons of above ground carbon - the equivalent to 49.9 tons of CO² which is the same amount of CO² emitted by 8 people taking one return flight from London to Sydney in economy class. ✈️
- It's taken 150 years for this tree to grow to this size and accomplish this!

Did you know - 94% of life on Earth is found in the Ocean? Which is another reason to protect it from further deterioration!

Here's some things you can do to do your bit 😷👇

🌴 Switch to a sunscreen that doesn't contain Oxybenzone & Octinoxate - two chemicals that are affecting the coral reefs. - Rituals UK & Ireland have a great one available!

🌴 Get involved with a local beach clean up or take an extra bin bag (preferably compostable) on your next beach trip to pick up any bits of rubbish you find - a healthy ocean is a healthy planet

🌴 Products with microbeads - Often found in health & beauty products, reduce the number of these bits of plastic from entering our Oceans by avoiding using products that contain Polypropylene and Polyethylene

& wherever you go this year, try to keep single use plastic to a minimum/last resort and be safe 💙
