Just inside the entrance to Headingley Library, the staircase in the James Graham Building is easy to walk past but worth a closer look, especially for the domed skylight overhead and original detailing.

Named after James Graham (1869–1931), Leeds’ Director of Education, the building has seen a lot, including its use as a WWI hospital treating over 57,000 injured and sick soldiers.

Have you seen them?

They were last spotted bravely leaving the Library… and have not been seen since.

They may be frightened, hiding under beds, tucked behind shelves, or accidentally shut in cupboards, out-buildings, or car boots. Please check carefully - they won’t know how to find their way back on their own 🥺

If you’re graduating this summer, your library account closes on 30 June.

Please help these poor, confused books find their way home before then.
