Ever wondered about what is it really like to study on the IFY? 🤔
Let us tell you more about Andy's first experiences on the programme! To prepare for his degree next year in BSc Computer Science, Andy studies Academic Study Skills, Maths, Business and Computing modules. Academic Skills module develops skills in academic reading, writing, speaking, presentations, and referencing. The lecturer for this module is his personal tutor who will support you him through the year. In Andy's first week with us, he attended the induction week. Here, he met lots of new friends, learnt about the University of Leeds campus, facilities, clubs, societies, LUU and support services available to all IFY students! It’s a lot of information to take in but extremely valuable information! In joining the clubs and making the most of his experience, Andy has seen, done and taken part in some unforgettable events and activities! He chose to be a part of clubs and societies with like-minded people who enjoy similar interests to himself and built himself an even larger friend network including people from many different walks of life!
What happens after the IFY? 🤩
Well, Jason is now in his third year of studying BSc Banking & Finance after completing the IFY!
In his time, he studied Accounting & Finance, Economics & Marketing as well as the Academic Skills module, which, similarly to Andy, provided him with the skills and tools to succeed in his later studies. Jason highly valued the study spaces available in the libraries as well as the Math and Academic support groups that were available to him in these allocated spaces. In addition to these, Jason utilised the facilities available in the Language Zone, the Edge Gym, and the Leeds University Union to improve his skills and social opportunities.
The IFY gave Jason the foundation blocks for building a sociable, academically impressive and wholesome lifestyle here in the UK! Having further improved on his skills in the IFY, Jason is now looking towards an incredible bright and opportunistic future!
