The aim of One Day: Diet in Yorkshire and Humber is to find out what people living in the Yorkshire and Humber region eat and drink, to help make decisions about food for health and sustainability in the future. This research is funded by the Quality Related Strategic Priorities Fund and is being carried out by researchers from the University of Leeds. We want to quickly survey the food intake of people living in the region, to see if a rapid approach is feasible and whether it can give an understanding of food intakes in the population, to inform, monitor and evaluate policy change to promote healthier, more sustainable diets. The study has ethics approval from the Business, Environment and Social Sciences (AREA) Faculty Research Ethics Committee, University of Leeds. THE RESEARCH TEAM:

One Day: Diet in Yorkshire and Humber was initiated by Professor Janet Cade from the School of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Leeds. Professor Cade specialises in research about ways to improve the measurement of diet and the relationship of diet to chronic disease development. Dr Catherine Rycroft is also based in the School of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Leeds. Her main research interest is diet and health outcomes in populations. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

• What does taking part in this study involve? Taking part in this study will usually take about 15 minutes of your time. It starts by filling in a short questionnaire online, first to check that you are eligible and give your consent, and then to ask a few questions about you and where you live. At the end of the questionnaire, you can choose to enter our Prize Draw. Afterwards you can open another link to go to a survey about what you had to eat and drink the previous day. You will be asked to enter a memorable word, number, or short phrase at the end of the questionnaire and again at the end of the diet survey, as a way of linking both sets of information.

• What will happen to my information? Names and contact details will be recorded solely for the purposes of the Prize Draw and will only be used to randomly select prize winners and distribute the prizes. All contact details will then be deleted. Your contact details will not be linked to the questionnaire or the diet survey. Completed diet surveys will have a unique response number, but the information you give cannot be traced back to you and your
anonymous responses will only be seen by the research team. A summary of the collected information from all the people who joined the study will be shared with Public Health professionals at local, regional, and national level and may be published in an academic journal. More information about how and why the University of Leeds uses personal data, what your individual rights are, and who to contact with queries or concerns can be found here:

• Will I benefit from the study in anyway? Apart from the opportunity to win the Prize Draw and a short report about your nutritional intake, this study will not benefit you directly. However we anticipate that your input, alongside that of other people who join the study, will give a better understanding of the diets of people in the Yorkshire and Humber region. In turn that will help local and regional authorities make better decisions about food, health, and sustainability in the future.

• Can I withdraw from the study if I change my mind? Once you have submitted your diet survey it is not possible to withdraw from the research, but you can leave the questionnaire or the diet survey at any time before the end (just close the browser window) without your answers being recorded.

• How do I join the study and start the questionnaire? Thank you for your interest. The questionnaire, prize draw and diet survey are now CLOSED (21.2.2022.) CONTACT US:
