In June 2025, three final-year dental students from the University of Leeds- Kate, Chrissy, and Phoebe delivered an inspiring oral health workshop for the women at the Growing Rooms. 🦷✨

Working alongside Lecturer in Societal and Cultural Transformation in Dental Education; Harriet Boyd as part of her doctoral project, the session aimed to:

🔹 Improve oral health education for people experiencing homelessness�

🔹 Inspire future dental professionals to work with underserved communities

The interactive workshop was tailored to the ladies’ needs, sparking great conversations and real change. Since the session, many of the ladies have made positive changes in their routines, cutting down on sugar and brushing more effectively! 🪥🍏

The students walked away with just as much impact, gaining deeper insight into the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness, sharpening their communication skills, and feeling more motivated than ever to support homeless dental charities in their future careers. 💙

👏 Huge congratulations to everyone involved in making this a meaningful and memorable experience!

Growing Rooms Ladies is a female-only recovery initiative by St. George’s Crypt. It provides a safe environment for women to overcome substance addiction and develop skills for sustainable recovery.
