👩‍🎓LUUMS Alumni Spotlight #10

Introducing Dr. Susan Wanless, conductor of the LUUMS Symphony Orchestra and LUUMS Chorus between 1980-1984.

After graduating, Susan went on to conduct choirs and orchestras around Yorkshire including the Wakefield Festival Chorus and the Morley Choral Society.

In September 1987 she moved south to Canterbury to become the Director of Music at the University of Kent.

👨‍🎓LUUMS Alumni Spotlight  #9

Introducing the founders of the LUUMS percussion ensemble, Ashruta Mani and Marcia McCants!

Ashruta and Marcia connected over their shared goal of making percussion music more accessible to student musicians.

Through their combined efforts, they kick-started the ensemble for percussionists of all skill levels to explore a range of instruments and genres of music. 

Following a trial period in 2022, the group was formally launched as LUUMS’ newest ensemble for the 2023/24 academic year!
