2nds Vs Northumbria 3rds-

An unfortunate defeat last week meant that Leeds 2nds were determined to get back on their winning streak and after a strong warm up led by captain Ellie Ward the team took to the court raring to go.

This determination was matched by their effort in the first quarter as leeds dominated throughout the court. New additions to the team in both attack and defence did not phase the girls with Claudia Cardinali continually turning the ball over providing Leeds with many opportunities to take the ball to goal. Confident shooting from Lucinda Rushton and some excellent turnovers from shooter Clare Steele the girls ended the quarter with 14 goals against Northumbria's 4.

The second quarter was not quite to the same standard as the first as Northumbria stepped up their game in attack and managed to steal back 11 goals from Leeds. Despite this, Leeds kept their heads high and worked hard through the court. Jess Whitworth and Emily Rose worked tirelessly to ensure that Leeds did not waste their centre passes and with great movement and feeds into the circle, the girls managed to keep their lead strong and ended the quarter with 26 goals to 15.

This effort continued into the third quarter as Helena Grennan came on at wing attack, again delivering great feeds into the circle for the shooters to convert. In defence Jess Fogarty stepped up her game and worked with Ellie Ward to make turnovers and create opportunities for the rest of the team to bring the ball through the court and ultimately increase their lead. The score was 41-20 to leads at the end of the third quarter.

With a confident win in sight the girls took to the court in the fourth quarter ready to take the game. Despite minor errors the girls manager to do this and ended the game with a win of 53 goals to 31.

Final Score: 53-31
Player of the match: Jess Whitworth

Leeds 3rds Vs York 1sts-

Leeds travelled to York with high hopes for the last game of the year. After an exciting warm up (in the arctic conditions) with a lot of intensity leeds took to the court. The defensive unit worked well with Alice Halpin and Onah Violet Ezukanma breaking down the york attacking play. However with a dominant wing attack Leeds finished the first quarter down 5-12.

Alice Gargan came out strongly as goal attack for the second quarter which sparked a new sense of enthusiasm for Leeds. This led to creative triangles from Hannah Gee and Ellie Mae Wild, which created a lot of options for Leeds. However Leeds were still down 25-15 at half time.

Changing Amber Amber Rose Billings to centre had a positive effect which aided the attacking triangles. Sophie Duncan kept up a high shooting percentage but unfortunately Leeds were still down.
In the fourth quarter Holly Ingrouille came back on with a new found sense of drive. Laura Borrie was also brought on due to the fourth Leeds injury of the match and was an effective defender for the remaining time. Unfortunately York continued their strong play and won the match 45-28.

Final score: 45-28
Player of the Match: Alice Halpin

5ths Vs Durham 3rds-

We knew Durham 3rds were going to be a tough opposition. There proved us right, coming out strong with all guns blazing. Tarnia Bleasdale helping the ball through centre court and working it into the D, with Daisy Grace Beaven converting shot after shot. However Durhams strong defence meant the 1st quarter ended with us being 3 goals down, 8-5.

A few changes were made going into the 2nd quarter. Becky Morrice coming on as WA. Going out into this quarter leeds still wanted the win. However after a few minutes of play, Durham wanted it just as badly. Even though Natalie Nathalie Cousins and Nat Dixon made incredible interceptions in the D, Durham utilised every shot on goal. Leeds struggled to move the ball through court to convert goals, resulting in Leeds being 15 goals down at half time.

Louise Johnson came on as GS in third quarter. Her partnership with Daisy Beaven resulted in leeds slowly closing the goal margin. Leeds picked up their game, moving the ball through court well, getting turnovers and centre passes to goal. Everyone was digging deep for the desperation for the win.

Leeds stepped on court in the last quarter fighting for a win they were working so hard for. Leeds defensive pressure was felt throughout court, resulting in mistakes from Durham. Leeds proved the team it was by winning the second half of the game. Even though Leeds gave it everything they had, Durhams lead from the first half was too difficult to pull back from. Final score: 28-34 to Durham. Onwards and Upwards.

Player of the match- Natalie Dixon
Final Score: 28-34

6ths Vs Leeds College of Art-

Leeds 6ths were up against Leeds College of Art. From the off set Leeds were ready to set the standard for winning wednesday's!

Leeds started strong with Alix Shadbolt and Hannah shooting, Rosie and Laura as defence, Arin Sunmonu, Claire Seaton and Bee Giles at centre court. We started off strong with great play off the centres setting up Alix Shadbolt and Hannah to work the triangles in the circle and sink shot after shot. Towards the end off the first quarter leeds college of art got their first goal and we conceded a few ending on a respectable 19-4 to us.

Using the depth in the squad Leeds made changes in the second quarter putting Paige on as GA, Victoria as GD, Bee as C, Fleur as WA and Arin as WD. We managed to keep our lead as everyone adapted to the changes and worked well as a team.
In the last quarters Amy Jones came on to shoot with
Paige, Rosie moved to GD and Fleur moved to C. Throughout the whole game there were changes made but the team and players adapted to the changes, kept their lead, and won 81-11 with the player of the match being Paige Catton.

Final Score: 81-11
Player of the Match: Paige Catton
