Today marks National Make a Difference Day. We all have the opportunity every day to change the world. As humans, we often have a tendency to assume that we are small and are not able to make a significant difference. However, this could not be further from the truth. If we all do one small thing, collectively, it makes a massive difference.

As a society, we want to encourage ourselves to take one day a year to try and make a difference in the world because as a group of individuals we can make a difference.

One of our society members, Sophie Owen, has shared her aims to make a difference this year. Sophie is working continuously with ULSB to get a defibrillator for Brookfield Campus and planning sessions to train people how to use them in an emergency. Alongside her main aim of spreading awareness about heart attacks and cardiac arrests.

Today is World Mental Health Day. Taking proactive steps to look after your mental health and wellness can be essential to a fulfilling and successful university experience. Please take a look at our top 5 tips for helping to look after your mental health.

While this day offers a wonderful chance to increase awareness, we must make sure that it is not the only time we discuss mental health. Reach out, have a conversation, and check up with your friends when you get the chance. Encourage each other to speak up when you are struggling without the fear of being judged. It's okay to not be okay.

We encourage all members of The School of Business society to normalise mental health. It's okay to talk about your mental health this week, next week and every week.
