World's first international football stadium given protected status

The site of the original Hampden Park, considered to be the world's first international football stadium, has earned protected status from Historic Environment Scotland (HES).

HES has now designated the site in Glasgow, which hosted international matches and Scottish Cup finals between 1873-1883, a ‘scheduled monument’ in recognition of its place in football history.

Great new The FIFA Master 'Where are they now?' interview this month with 2007 graduate and now Co-Lead Marketing and Communication at the Swiss Alpine Club SAC, Eric Amstein.

Eric began his course studies in the Humanities of Sport here at the International Centre for Sports History and Culture, De Montfort University Leicester (DMU), with later modules in Sport Management at SDA Bocconi in Italy and Sports Law at the Université de Neuchâtel in Switzerland.
