Management and organisations have created many of the achievements of modern civilization, but are at the same time profoundly implicated in the pressing global problems facing us today: the persistence of war, violence, the degradation of the natural environment, racism, sexism, ageism, ableism/disablism, homophobia, unsafe working environments, work-life imbalance, global inequality, to name but a few. Very little management research and teaching deals directly with these issues. In contrast, they are central to what we do – both in our research and in our teaching – in the University of Leicester School of Management, an approach now dubbed the ‘Leicester model’
