LLM (University of Leicester) This is for students who are interested in or are currently on the LLM at the School of Law, Univers As such we have a number of guidelines.

We offer either a general LLM Law degree, where you can select the modules that interest you most, or you can apply for one of the four specialist campus degrees or for one of the two specialist dista...nce learning degrees in the following areas:

• LLM International Commercial Law
• LLM International Human Rights Law
• LLM International Law
• LLM Public International Law
• LLM in Employment Law by distance learning only

The closing date for applications is the 31st August 2013. The online application must be accompanied by copies of certificates and transcripts of marks from previous qualifications and two references. We will accept this information electronically; it can be uploaded during the online application process.

This is primarily for the LLB programmes, but if you are interested in coming to Leicester it will give you an idea of what it is like to study here!

You may be interested to know that the School of Law will be holding presentations in Canada in mid-March. The sessions will cover the University of Leicester, the School of Law, the city of Leicester, how to apply, scholarships, returning to Canada after completing your Law degree and there will also be the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.

Dr Troy Lavers has two guest speakers lined up for our LLM and Research students:

6 March 1pm in L66 - Professor Malcolm Shaw QC

Professor Shaw will be returning to do a talk with the title: "International Law Today: The Views from the Lecture Room and the Court Room". Professor Malcolm Shaw is a Senior Fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, University of Cambridge and is also part-time Research Professor in International Law at the University of Leicester. He is a leading author in international law and has an outstanding record in practice advising foreign governments, international organisations and private clients appearing before the International Court of Justice, the European Court of Human Rights, the High Court, Court of Appeal and House of Lords.

15 May 1pm - Stephen Humphreys and Dr Yoriko Otomo

A joint paper by Stephen Humphreys and Dr. Yoriko Otomo from SOAS titled "Natural Seduction: Development and International Environmental Law". Yoriko is a lecturer in International Law at SOAS and her main areas of research interest are animal law, environmental law, international law and legal theory. She has also worked at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, London School of Economics, for the Danish Institute for Human Rights, and for the United Nations University’s Institute of Advanced Studies. Stephen Humphreys is a Lecturer in International Law. He was formerly Research Director at the International Council on Human Rights Policy in Geneva, and, before that, Senior Officer at the Open Society Institute’s Justice Initiative in New York and Budapest.

Fees are calculated depending on where you currently live. If you are normally a UK or EU resident you will be classed as a Home/EU student. If you a usually resident outside of the EU you will be classed as an Overseas student. If you are unsure if you are an EU or Overseas student you can check…
