Why are Cheer and Stunt our winning group of the month?

“Cheer and Stunt have been consistent throughout this academic year, making consistent development, hosting lots of events and doing fantastic fundraisers. They have done numerous collaborations which is why they have won this month’s Spotlight with their end of year finale not only having their very first Varsity as Team Leicester, but also attending as many varsity fixtures as they could as support to other teams. On top of this they also entered multiple teams to RAG’s Get Lost event during RAG week! Big well done to the whole student group!”

“Islamic Society have stayed active throughout April and have been great at keeping their social media updated. Closely approaching Ramadan, the student group have made a concerted effort to educate people about this time of year and what it means to Muslims throughout their social platforms. Well done to their good communication skills and for thinking about how they can include others through educating”

Congratulations to May's Spotlight Innovation winners - Physics Society!

Why have they won this month's award?

“Physics society have gone above and beyond to end their year as an academic student group! They have effectively planned their trip to Chernobyl! Not only have they had to think about all the risks involved, they are also constantly tracking the Brexit situation before they leave. They have had great communication with the student union, done fantastic planning and have effectively completed all their forms. Hopefully more groups who haven’t gone abroad before will be inspired by Physics!"

Congratulations to the May winners of the Spotlight Event Award - West Indian Society!

"As a fairly new society West Indian Society have developed loads this year and it’s been great to watch! We have admired all their events and lectures, and towards the end of the year hosted three lectures in one month, about both growing up in a Caribbean community and the culture for those in these communities now. These events are open to all those who want to learn more about West Indian culture. They have also made concerted effort to have collaborations with other culture groups which we always love and encourage at the Student Union!”

Well done to Homeless Outreach for their April Spotlight takeover!
They will continue their 3 outreaches a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday) for the rest of the term, and then come back in September with new socials and a new committee!

Can you tell us about a past event you have done University of Leicester Homeless Outreach Society ?

"At Christmas we did a sleeping bag fundraiser, with over 20 sleeping bags being purchased by the society. We also did a christmas box giveaway, where we added goods ranging from hats, gloves, first aid kits, toothbrushes for example. We did around 15-20 boxes filled up for this"
