Burlesque is all about self-confidence, empowerment and promoting positivity in our members no matter shape, size, gender or experience. Our classes initially focus on the basics of burlesque dancing, creating the look and becoming a burlesque persona. We also love character development and creating routines and preparing members who want to perform for shows. We also offer classes on costume maki
ng and specialist dance, including hula hoop, belly dancing and balloon pop. We are also interested in cabaret, rockability, swing, all things vintage, the costumes, hairstyles, makeup, fashion, popular culture and contemporary burlesque. We regularly host shows at the cocktail bar Firebug and donate all the preceeds from our bake sale and £1 of every ticket sold to our chosen charity. One of the biggest most important parts of burlesque is being in control, and so no one is ever forced to do anything they dont want to and many chose to forgo performing and help out at shows doing bake sales, stage managing, ticket sales and promotion instead. There's a role for everyone, even if that is being part of the audience and supporting the society! As a member of the Vixens you will always be part of the team but more importantly part of the family
