FASHION IS SIMPLY SECOND NATURE TO AOIFE

NWRC lecturer and award-winning designer Aoife Harvey is set to take the national fashion stage today as she showcases her latest collection at Ireland Fashion Week in Dublin.

Aoife, who lectures in Fashion and Textiles at NWRC, will present her one-of-one collection, SECOND NATURE, as part of The Irish Edit showcase.

Designed and handmade by Aoife, the 15-piece collection highlights sustainable fashion through the creative transformation of reclaimed textiles into contemporary, statement designs.

A first-class Fashion and Textiles graduate and winner of BBC Northern Ireland’s A Stitch Through Time, Aoife combines her thriving design career with inspiring the next generation of creatives through her teaching at NWRC.

Congratulations to Aoife on this fantastic achievement and for showcasing the innovation, creativity and sustainable design ethos that continues to flourish at NWRC.

NOTE OF CONDOLENCE

The Governing Body, Management, Staff and Students at North West Regional College wish to express deep sadness at the passing of our former colleague Liam Morrow.

Liam joined the Estates Department of Limavady College in July 2002, and post-merger in 2007 worked across both Strand Road and Limavady campuses. Liam was a gentleman, a highly regarded and talented colleague who had a wonderful ability to cut through the most difficult of problems with an enviable ease and skill.

Liam played a key role in the two major developments in Limavady College - the construction of the new Greystone Campus, and the Benevenagh building project in Main Street. Limavady colleagues will also hold fond memories of the Christmas festivities in Garnetts Restaurant at which Liam played a key role. Liam retired from NWRC in June 2015.

We offer our sincere condolences and prayers to Liam’s wife Rosleen, family and friends at this time.

Three of our students are heading to national skills finals this November, where they’ll compete against some of the UK’s best apprentices and learners.

Alissa Jarvis from Limavady Campus is the only student from Northern Ireland to qualify for the prestigious WorldSkills UK Beauty Therapy Practitioner National Final in Wales.

Jay Armstrong (Springtown Campus) and Jack Rogers (Greystone Campus) have secured places in the SkillBuild National Finals in Milton Keynes, one of the UK’s toughest construction competitions.

This fantastic achievement reflects the dedication, talent and hard work of our students and the high-quality training delivered across NWRC.
