Hi,
The university is holding an inclusive practice meeting at 2pm today!

It will focus on creating Accessible Environments for Deaf students and introducing the new Neurodiversity Acceptance Group
This CoP will be led by students who will be presenting on two important topics. Abigail Lavers, Level I Disability Studies student, will present the work she produced for one of her assessments, which focuses on how to create accessible environments for Deaf or hard of hearing students in HE. The discussion will then centre on the importance of understanding the access needs of Deaf students in HE.
In the second part of the CoP, Stephanie Trujillo (Hope SU Vice President Welfare and Community), Lexe Vairy (Hope SU Disability Student Rep) and Becki Zand (Learning
Support Team at SDW) will talk about the Neurodiversity Acceptance Group. This is a new group for anyone who self-identifies or is questioning if they are neurodivergent, no
diagnosis is necessary.

Academic staff, students and support staff are all very welcome to attend.

Please message for meeting details!

We hope to see you there! xx

Hi everyone, Daisy Inclusive UK - is currently planning the PAUSE project - which aims to support women and girls who have experienced sexual abuse, assault and violence.

Please see below for information about the project:

The project focuses on 5 key points of delivery:

Prevention – Workshops delivered in the community

Awareness – building awareness of issues facing girls and women

Understanding – Working together we can address issues

Support – Support groups and counselling for victims

Empowerment – Empowering Women to feel safe and protected.

They said: Our PAUSE Project will help to tackle issues surrounding violence, incidents of sexual abuse, and harassment towards girls and women. We will offer a wraparound service that will support female beneficiaries and community members to feel safe, supported, and empowered to live without fear in their community. We are passionate about creating services that are proactive rather than reactive and understand society as a whole needs to change to make girls and women living in our community feel safe. Building awareness across social groups will be key in making positive steps towards making our city safer.

Daisy Inclusive UK is keen for students and colleagues at LHU to become involved in the project. If society members would be interested in getting involved with the project, please contact Nikki (who works at Daisy and is leading the project): [email protected]
