π WOW Project
π€© We are excited to tell you about an amazing new creative collaboration which brings together Liverpool John Moores University and our Entry 2 Foundation and Level 1 ICT students.
π Our students have been invited to participate in a bespoke programme to create digital artwork, animations, comic strips, mini games and sculptures for the PRISM online academic journal and blog.
π As part of this project, our learners visited LJMU and presented their creations to lecturers and took questions.
π Our students stepped outside their comfort zone by presenting and speaking in public, smashing our termly career theme of 'Communication' π₯ and developing their confidence and resilience.
π A massive thanks to π Dr Craig Hammond for masterminding the project and giving this opportunity to our students. Thanks also to our amazing tutors for supervising and coordinating the individual creative projects in college.

π Module: Enterprise
π Cohort: Entry 2 and Entry 3 Skills for Further Learning & Employment
π Project: 'Snacky Snacks' Tuck Shop
π€© Last Friday saw the grand opening of the Snacky Snack Tuck shop.
π€© Entry 3 students conducted market research to ask consumers which types of products they would like to purchase and how much they would be prepared to pay. This data was fed back to the rest of the enterprise group.
π€© All learners suggested a catchy name for the tuck shop and they analysed which space in the college would be the most appropriate in terms of accessibility and facilities.
π€© The marketing team then designed posters and sent out e-mails to announce the grand opening.
π€© Entry 2 learners spent Friday morning making the products for sale: flapjacks, chocolate chip cupcakes, chocolate-coated gingerbread, banana milkshake and bespoke Christmas decorations.
π€©When they tuck shop opened, our learners took on specific roles: Adam did a great job serving customers and remembering the product prices; Saif served mikshakes and encouraged customers to try the products, Libby-Su managed the takings and was in charge of finance and all of other learners did an amazing job behind the scenes cooking and decorating.
π Massive thanks to the entire foundation department and to Mel and all of the learners.
Teamwork makes the dream work!!!!!

π WOW Day - Raising Aspirations
π Theme - Step into Business Taster
π Cohort - Level 2 Business and Customer Service students
ποΈ Tuesday 3rd December
π Liverpool Hope University
π The taster kicked off with some fantastic mind-mapping with Dylan about the concept of university and then Daisy guided our learners through some interactive activities to help them develop key skills for life, study and employment, such as:
- Creative thinking
- Self-Awareness and reflection
- Active listening and communication
π We then got to drop in on some #festivaloffuture sessions, such as exloring sustainable futures through nature and music, and a work meeting about Peaceful Futures.
π We were super privileged to be among the first students to explore the newly-unveiled simulation room, which was a sensory oasis filled with interactive games themed around Christmas and the wellbeing theme of 'Doughnut worry'.
π After our campus tour and lunch break, we had a branding masterclass from Victoria Seddon and our learners had to create Christmas jumpers combining a well-known brand with a festive twist.
π One of the highlights was an activity designed to introduce young people to the concept of #entrepreneurship. The session, which was led by Paula and her colleagues, focused on getting us to compete in teams as countries and manufacture products for market using limited resources and sell them to a buyer for the highest price. This session brought out the best in our learner's teamwork, competitive spirit, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
π€© All in all, it was an amazing day! A massive thank you to Dylan for organising such an immersive, inclusive and inspiring experience for our students and, more importantly, for raising their future aspirations.

π Adaptive Coaching Taster
π Greenbank Sports Academy
β Year 3 sports students from Liverpool Hope University, Level 2 sports students from Greenbank College and our amazing sports development team from Greenbank Sports Academy.
π Today was the first visit of many to celebrate a new partnership between Liverpool Hope University, Greenbank Sports Academy and Greenbank College to enable university students to learn about adaptive coaching techniques for disability sports and, ultimately, become more disability confident.
π It was also a great chance for our Level 2 sports learners to interact with university students to raise their future aspirations and to share their own knowledge of a range of different disability sports.
π The Hope Uni students had a blast trying out the power football chairs, and learning how to play boccia and polybat sports.

πThere is nothing like a bit of fresh air!
πOur Entry 3 Living in the Community group have been busy gardening and maintaining our beautiful grounds.
πThey did not waste any time getting stuck in and made light work of the fallen leaves and overgrown borders.
πBig thanks to Kevin π who is inspiring our students to take care of their surroundings and reap the benefits of working outdoors and working as part a team.
