On Sunday, 23rd March, Nigel Kneale will be taking on the Sheffield Half Marathon in memory of his mum, Czesława , who sadly passed away from an aggressive form of brain cancer. He is running to raise vital funds for the University of Liverpool Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer) Research supporting ground breaking work to improve survival rates and find new treatments.💙

Nigel shared: “I lost my mum to glioblastoma, a disease I had never heard of before her diagnosis. Since then, I’ve learned just how aggressive it is and how few treatment options exist. Research is the only way to change this, and that’s why I’m running - to help fund the incredible work being done at the University of Liverpool.”

Glioblastoma patients lose an average of 20 years of life, more than any other cancer. The Glioblastoma Fund has been set to support ground-breaking research into immunotherapy, a promising new treatment for glioblastoma.

If you can please support Nigel’s fundraising and help make a difference: https://s.liv.ac.uk/955

University of Liverpool Veterinary Alumni Association

Meet our April cover star Jasmin Paris: record-breaking ultrarunner, vet lecturer, and the first woman to ever complete the Barkley Marathons.

With victories in the Spine Race, Bob Graham, and Ramsay Round, Jasmin Paris was already a dominant force in fell and skyrunning - but conquering the Barkley cemented her status as a global icon.

Now, the MBE-honoured mother of two is using her platform to drive environmental awareness and champion women in sport.

To bring your kindness to life, we visited to share your heartfelt messages directly with students, spreading warmth and support in person. 💙📚

“I don't know if I could have gone to university at all without the Liverpool Bursary. Thanks to the Bursary, I’ve been able to actually ‘be a student'.” 💙

For many students like Izzy, financial barriers can stand in the way of achieving their dreams. Izzy, a second year classical studies student, didn’t know if university would ever be possible for her. Without the Bursary, she wouldn’t have been able to afford to move away from home or meet the incredible friends she has now. The bursary gave Izzy a chance to focus on her studies, rather than juggling work and finances.🙌

“I cried when I found out I had a place at the university - I've never cried from being happy before, but I sobbed that day, and I was just so excited. It was amazing. University has been a fantastic experience for me. It’s been incredibly busy but has allowed me to build up my independence and self-confidence. It has also opened so many doors for me that would have remained firmly closed without the extra help I’ve received."

Thank you! Your generosity makes a real difference in the lives of students like Izzy. Find out how you can support the Student Fund and create opportunities for others today: https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/giving/student-fund/
