It’s never too late to start a new chapter 👏🏾

Congratulations to our apprentice plasterer Brian Belnavis, who has been shortlisted for the 2026 Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards!

At 45, Brian decided to change direction, starting an apprenticeship with Hackney Council and studying at the College of North West London. Two years on, his determination has earned him national recognition.

Alongside learning his trade, Brian has also studied Maths and English, with his children encouraging him every step of the way.

We’re proud of you, Brian! Best of luck for the final in Birmingham this November 🙌🏾

🤝 Student voice in action!

Our CNWL Student Union recently met with Citizens UK to talk about the issues that matter to them and their communities – including the NHS, safety, housing, litter and accountability.

Our students are passionate about having their voices heard and, more importantly, helping to make positive change happen. 💬💪

UCG students have a long-standing partnership with Citizens UK, and we’re excited to see our CNWL Student Union continuing to build on this relationship.

Watch this space – we can’t wait to see where their ideas take them! 👏

Freshers’ Fair at Willesden looked a little like this… 👀

Our learners spent the day meeting new people, exploring activities and discovering more ways to get involved in college life.

Watch back some of our favourite moments from the day 💜

On Monday we welcomed BBC Radio 4 to the College of North West London. Presenter and economist Paul Johnson, who has made a series of programmes on apprenticeships for Radio 4’s PM news programme, spoke to four of our students and Principal James Wilson as part of the visit.

James spoke with Paul about the importance of United Colleges Group’s relationship with our valued employers, and our students discussed their experience of working in industry alongside their studies at college, and their ambitions for the world of work after completing their apprenticeships.

Well done to our learners for being such excellent ambassadors for our college on national radio!

You can listen back to their interview from around 47 mins and 30 seconds into yesterday’s PM programme: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0031kqt?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin

We had a fantastic time today welcoming our learners at our Freshers’ Fair at the Willesden campus.

Our students gathered in the hall to celebrate the start of the academic year, meet friends, grab some freebies, and speak with local organisations in attendance.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day a success 💜

📷 See if you can spot yourself!

What a proud moment to hear former College of North West London learner Andrew Onasanya sharing his journey and the support he received during his time at CNWL in a recent conversation with Morgan Hunt.

Thank you to Andrew for sharing your story, and to our Apprenticeships Manager, Stephen, who gets a very well-deserved mention for the support he gave Andrew along the way!

We're proud to have played a part in Andrew's journey and even prouder to see everything he's gone on to achieve. 👏🏾
