Vintage smalti (thick off-cuts): Was £32/kg → £15/kg, sold by weight.
Smalti pizze (round and small square whole pieces, wide colour range): Approx. £40/kg → £20/kg, sold by weight.
Modern pre-cut smalti (small cuboids): Was £50–£80/kg → £30/kg, sold by weight.
Smalti off-cuts: Price to be confirmed, may be sold by the cup.

Note: Main smalti boxes in Italian studio are excluded for now.

Natural Stone
Wide rods (listelli) in multiple colours: Was £13–£15/kg → £1/rod (£4/kg).
Very thin rods: £5/kg.
1cm cubes (good colour range): £5/kg.
Marble off-cuts: FREE.

Ceramic Tile

We are having a Studio Sale this week!

On Offer:
We'll be selling tools, adhesives, picture hanging kits, substrates, art supplies, wood work tools, furniture, stationary etc. We will also have lots of smalti, marble, vitreous tiles and some ceramic.

Tesserae pricing is below:
We'll be selling smalti at £15 per kg
We'll be selling natural stone between £4-5 per kg
Ceramic - £5 per kg
Vitreous tile - £5 per sheet or £5 per kg

On Friday 15 August, we will also display a selection of mosaics that we are offering to the community free of charge — for public installation. These pieces are part of LSoM’s legacy and are intended to live on in shared, accessible spaces, not private collections.

If you have an idea or plan for how and where a mosaic could be installed in the public realm — in a park, school, library, community centre, street corner — we would love to hear it. We’re inviting proposals and suggestions from individuals, groups, or institutions who want to give these works a visible, lasting home.

Please bring your own packaging if you're purchasing items. If you buy something but cannot take it away immediately, all items must be collected by Friday 22 August.

This will be our final chance to gather in the space that has held so much energy, creativity and community over the years. Please come and share memories, stories, and a drink with old friends. BYOB encouraged.

We invite you to bring printed photos, letters, drawings or any memorabilia to help us decorate the space. After the event, these will become part of a scrapbook, which we will scan and upload to a legacy website as part of a permanent community archive.

In Memory of Prerana Phadnis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our trustee and dear friend, Prerana Phadnis, who died unexpectedly on Wednesday, 16th July.

Prerana joined The London School of Mosaic as a trustee in 2018, became Vice Chair in October 2019, and served as Chair of the charity from 2020 to 2022. Her contribution to the school was deep and lasting, both as a member of the board and as an active volunteer, curious student and beloved presence within our community.

Known for her warmth, humour, and unwavering support, Prerana was a person everybody looked forward to seeing in the workshop, and was a close friend to many. Her goodwill, enthusiasm, and leadership enriched LSoM in countless ways, and we are grateful for the time we shared with her.

Prerana moved from Mumbai to London in 1980, earning a Master of Arts in Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins while raising two young children. She later achieved an Masters in Business Administration and spent 25 years helping UK companies harness creative thinking to rethink their business strategies. In 2018, she retired from her career as a business coach to focus on mosaics. In 2022, she published her book, A Different Life, Piece by Piece, with The Book Guild.

Over the past seven years, all of us at LSoM have been fortunate to benefit from her wisdom, creativity, and deep generosity of spirit. Prerana was truly a part of the soul of the school. We know many in our community will feel the same, and will join us in holding her family in our thoughts during this difficult time.

Join us in celebrating the creativity and dedication of our students at this year’s End of Year Exhibition - a vibrant showcase of mosaics crafted across all our courses throughout the year.

This special event also marks the Diploma in Mosaic Studies End of Year Show, highlighting the exceptional work of our graduating students. Their stunning final pieces are a testament to the skill, passion, and artistry developed over the course of their studies.

When was the last time you put pen to paper? 🖋️

Or, in this case, sticks to… anything! The drawing workshop hosted by the wonderful Jeff is where you can create works of art with no pressure, no expectation and a variety of snacks available to you (we’re talking fruit, biscuits AND teas, by the way). The regulars who come to these weekly sessions enjoy the community space and praise Jeff for his kindness and encouragement to create whatever they like, from simple mark-making to the masterpieces you see in these slides!

Everyone is welcome, as always! Come down to Jeff’s Drawing Workshop to discover (or rediscover) your creative side 🎨
