King’s research has found that lower-quality broadband connectivity is associated with a higher burden of depression among older adults.
Using Ofcom data, the study suggests internet quality influences more than technical access. It can affect access to health information, digital health services and social connection.
The researchers propose a new digital quality gradient framework, recognising that internet access alone does not guarantee meaningful digital-health access.
