Congratulations to Abhilash on graduating with a Distinction in MSc Cyber Security! 🎓

After several years working in banking technology risk, Abhilash returned to university to strengthen his technical foundations.

Looking back on his time at university, one reflection stood out:

“It proved it’s never too late to invest in yourself.”

His dissertation helped Abhilash realise exactly where he wants to take his career: working at the intersection of cyber security, regulation and AI.

Alongside his studies, he co-authored a peer-reviewed paper on AI governance and served as President of the CyberHackShield Society. He was also nominated for International Student of the Year and Programme Representative of the Year 👏

We wish Abhilash all the very best for what comes next!

And to everyone graduating this year, congratulations on reaching this milestone. Take a moment to recognise how far you’ve come and feel proud of everything you’ve achieved.

The campus has opened its doors to young Londoners this summer, offering a route into higher education through a new initiative with the Mayor's Fund for London (MFL).

The partnership offers five-day skills weeks for 16 to 18-year-olds, with the first focusing on Cyber Security, Digital and Careers Skills.

Participants build core employability skills while experiencing what studying in higher education feels like.

For Walid, that industry connection was one of the reasons he chose Northumbria:

“The NCC accreditation was probably one of the main factors of me choosing Northumbria as a choice of study.
