The IR Department is proud to support the work of the Grimshaw Club, and we are excited to highlight some of their achievements. 🌟

From Switzerland to Morocco and all the way to Kenya, China, and Thailand, Grimshaw's trips this year have taken students across the globe 🌍

The Grimshaw Club is The London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE oldest student society, focusing on the discipline of International Relations and issues of international affairs since 1923. Each year, they organise trips abroad to multiple locations, giving students the chance to immerse themselves in different cultures and priorities of different regions, while connecting with governmental organisations, diplomatic missions, NGOs and UN organisations!

Welcome back, and welcome to all our new students! 🎉

We launched the new academic year with our IR Welcome Address, featuring Professor Jeffrey Chwieroth, Dr Martin Bayly, Dr Boram Lee, and Dr Sichen Li.

Together, they explored: “What are the most significant issues likely to shape international relations over the next century, and how should today's students prepare to understand them?”

🎉 Congratulations to our BSc International Relations Prizewinners on their outstanding academic achievements!

This year, we're delighted to recognise:

📚 Emma Lee Zixuan for achieving the highest mark in the IR100 Theories and Concepts of International Relations examination among IR students.

📚 Luka Lacey for achieving the best examination performance among second year BSc International Relations students.

📚 Mahira Haque for the highest overall degree performance among third year BSc International Relations students and for the best 10,000-word dissertation.

Her dissertation is titled "The Afterlife of Defeat: The Paradox of Personalist Legitimacy in the Middle East."
