Chelsea College of Arts University of the Arts London (UAL) Chelsea College of Arts has a reputation for producing some of today’s leading artists and designers.

Our teaching focuses on material-based investigation and creative process. We offer fine art, design and curating courses. At Chelsea College of Arts, we look at art and design in a social, cultural and political context. We are particularly interested in the effects of globalisation. This could either be on creative practice itself or its response to it. Chelsea College of Arts has 2 university research centres that specialise in these areas. They are Transnational Art, Identity and Nation (TrAIN) and the Centre for Circular Design (CCD). We are home to Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts) and the Stuart Hall Library. Our Chelsea Space gallery programme is international and interdisciplinary. Exhibitions cover art, design and popular culture with an emphasis is on curatorial experimentation. As a city London offers a platform for building new networks. Our staff will encourage you to test your ideas out both on and off site. This might be in an exhibition, studio or whilst using our professional facilities. We want you to embrace a spirit of investigation and inventiveness. These are characteristics that drive and inform the work of many of our graduates. Our alumni include Mariko Mori, Rose Finn-Kelcey, Haroon Mirza, Steve McQueen, Rana Begum, Chris Ofili, Margaret Calvert, Mark Wallinger, Thomas J Price, James Richards and Helen Chadwick. We want you to realise your potential as an artist, designer or creative practitioner. Chelsea College of Arts aims to provide you with a stimulating space to do that.

For those who take their sweet treats seriously 🍰

Meet Tia George, a graduate from our BA (Hons) Graphic Design Communication course and the designer behind 'Bramble', a brand created for those who believe a sweet treat should be more than just a transaction.

Inspired by the natural sweetness sought by bees, bears and hummingbirds, she created 'Bramble' to reimagine the café experience through branding, packaging and storytelling, encouraging us to slow down and rediscover the joy of sweetness.

With carefully tested prototypes and hand-assembled packaging, she brings the brand to life through every detail.

This student reimagined a tea tree through 3D scanning, printing and sound 🪾

Meet Yuesu (Su) Wang, a graduate from our BA (Hons) Fine Art graduate course, whose final project, 'Animism of All Things', explores the spiritual presence of nature through the lens of technology, memory and culture.

Starting with a tea tree from the mountains of Yunnan, Su combines 3D scanning, 1:1 3D printing and sound to explore the plant beyond what we can see.

By translating the tree’s microcurrents into sound, the work invites us to questioning how technology can both reveal and distort our understanding of the natural world.

This shelf was made using the decisions of multiple people 😯

Meet Isabella Langaard, a graduate from our BA (Hons) Product and Furniture Design course, whose final project 'My Decisions Have Been Shelved' explores co-authorship, participation and our emotional connections with the objects we live with.

Combining hand-built ceramic beads, each designed by a different participant, with reclaimed flamed beech shelving, Isabella transformed individual decisions into a shared piece of furniture.

Rather than hiding imperfections, fingerprints and material variation, the project celebrates them as traces of making, collaboration and identity.

Art transforms every room it enters 💛

This project titled, 'God-Sized Tunnel, Tunnel-Sized Hole' was created by Maisie Ward, a graduate from our BA (Hons) Fine Art course. The project is a mural and sound installation inspired by the abandoned Blue Ridge Tunnel in rural Virginia, near where the artist grew up and explores the artist’s religious upbringing.

Silicone arms inspired by medieval history ✋

This project titled, 'Everything All At Once' by Rosa Leeder, a graduate from our BA (Hons) Fine Art course contains three silicone hyperrealistic arms, which Leeder describes are "in competition for the viewers attention."

The project is based on her research into the medieval history of London. It draws on archival material, research, literature and her my experience of being in a place where "the layers of history are evident in the architecture all around her."
