In May, we celebrated two years of the Black Creatives Hub – an initiative created to showcase and celebrate the exceptional talents, achievements and contributions of UAL's Black creative community.

To mark the occasion, we hosted a special anniversary event at Central Saint Martins, bringing together students, graduates, alumni, staff, creatives and allies for an evening of inspiring conversations.

The celebration featured a panel discussion with Rayvenn Shaleigha D'Clark, Ade "Àsìkò" Okelarin, Adryan Abii-Smith and Danielle Udogaranya, chaired by Maureen Salmon, as well as a live performance from Kathryn Lagon-Stanislaus.

What an incredible way to celebrate the end of the academic year! 🎉

This summer, our School of Pre-degree Studies welcomed nearly 2,000 visitors to Lime Grove for our very first Open Studios event – three days filled with creativity, inspiration and celebration.

Visitors explored exhibitions of student work across art, communication, design and fashion, while two spectacular fashion shows showcased the talent, imagination and innovation of our emerging designers. We were also delighted to welcome families, friends, offer-holders, colleagues and members of our local community to experience the vibrant creative environment at Lime Grove.

As our students prepare for the next stage of their creative journeys, we're so proud of everything they've achieved and grateful to everyone who helped make our inaugural Open Studios such a memorable success.

We're excited to introduce Nerve Lab, a new immersive research and production facility in London powered by UAL Creative Computing Institute.

Made possible through Research England's Innovation Funding, Nerve Lab brings together creativity, technology and research to help creatives, researchers and industry professionals measure, test and incorporate human experiences into artistic and commercial projects.

Combining AI, motion capture, wearable neurotechnology and immersive environments, the facility enables real-time insights into how people think, feel and engage with creative experiences.

Nerve Lab offers opportunities for:
🔹 Academic research collaborations
🔹 Commercial projects and consultancy
🔹 Workshops and training programmes

Its specialist facilities include:
▪️ A Black Box immersive performance space featuring a curved Sony Verona LED wall, Vicon motion capture and integrated neuroimaging technologies
▪️ The Living Room Lab, designed for audience research, user testing and behavioural analysis
▪️ Bespoke creative AI model development supported by expert researchers, technicians and high-performance GPU computing resources

From performance capture and virtual production to XR design, generative AI and neuro-enhanced audience analysis, Nerve Lab is creating new possibilities for creative innovation and research.
