In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, 25% of our research in art and design, and over 50% of our research in the history of art and design, was graded "world leading" or "internationally excellent". Our research has attracted funding from major grant-awarding bodies, including the Arts and Humanities Research Council, The Leverhulme Trust, and the Paul Mellon Foundation. Our doctoral supervisi

on includes pioneering programmes in D.Arts and Design Advanced Research Training (DART), including practice-led and practice-based research. Our curatorial work includes important collections of computer arts materials, as well as collections related to home decoration and furnishing, whilst the critical history of ADRI reaches back through several decades of ground-breaking cultural criticism.

Prof Katy Deepwell is presenting at Faces: gender, art, technology. 20 years of interactions, connections and collaborations, Graz, Austria, 15h October 2017.

In 2017 we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the international online community "FACES“, a network of women in media arts who connect inperson and on the listserv faces-l.net. "FACES" was founded in 1997 in Austria. It has built its base from meetings with communities of women around the world, in person and virtually, bringing a borderless sense of communication, giving new possibilities for creative online projects - performance, spoken word, sound, and theoretical discussion. http://www.faces-l.net/

About FACES Story The faces list began operation in the Spring of 1997, a pragmatic response to the needs of a small but growing number of women in media. Initiated after a series of discussions that took place on the margins of European media arts and media culture events, via email, and in the dim...
