The Rookies 2026 Global School Rankings has ranked Staffs Uni Games Institute among the best in the world!

We’ve been ranked 1st in the UK (13th globally) for Games Design and Development – the third time in four years that University of Staffordshire has taken the top national spot in this category.

And, we have risen to 1st in the UK (8th globally), from 2nd place last year, for Concept Art.

The Rookies Global School Rankings are based on student portfolios submitted to the annual Rookie Awards and assessed by professionals working across the creative industries. A huge well done to all our talented Games students – these results are recognition of the quality and creativity of your work.

Level 1: completed. Welcome Week might be over, but the games are just getting started here at University of Staffordshire London campus.

We have successfully kicked off the academic year by connecting our new students with both their campus community and industry contacts. During September, our cohorts jumped straight into hands-on learning, creative collaboration and networking. This included:

- Industry insights and inspiring game design talks from legendary developers Laurence Oldham and Oscar Clark.
- Fast-paced game jams and campus-wide scavenger hunts.
- Gunpla build workshops, karaoke and pub quiz nights at Four Quarters.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and helped welcome our newest students to the Staffs family. Inductions are done, and now it’s time for an amazing semester!

We’re proud to be located at the heart of the technology community in Here East, the home to our University of Staffordshire London campus.

So, what better place to bring together the tech community for NSLondon's latest event last week, hosted by one of our neighbours, Ford Motor Company.

NSL London is a fantastic group for iOS and Swift developers who want to explore all that's new and fascinating in Apple development.

The event included talks from industry experts, with time to connect and meet others in the community. Thank you to everyone involved, it was brilliant to be able to support and be part of such a fantastic event.

We’ve been named Daily Mail Modern University of the Year 2027! 🏆

University of Staffordshire has been ranked 38th overall and the highest-ranked modern university in this year’s Daily Mail University Guide.

The award recognises our continued rise in the rankings, strong graduate outcomes and investment in giving our students the skills, experience and support they need to thrive.

From immersive and simulation-based learning across our campuses, to our £100m Student Village and Hub opening next month, we’re continuing to invest in the experience our students have both inside and outside the classroom.

And the results are backing it up: more than three quarters of our graduates go on to high-skilled jobs and graduate salaries place Staffordshire in the top 30 nationally.
